The Rioja Wine Tour, An Immersive Wine Experience...

One of the reason we are excited about this trip is the fact that, like many of Europe’s famous wine regions, Ancient Romans were the first to start viticulture in Rioja wine region, which means that once we start traveling, we will discover traces of its rich and ancient history.

Rioja wine region boasts of beautiful countrysides dating back to medieval times, a breathtaking hilly landscape dotted with fortresses. In addition to this, here, you will be able to discover fabulous wine museums, wineries with modern architecture, great restaurants, and hotels.

Trip Highlights

  • Visits to some of Spain’s most prominent and modern vineyards – Rioja Alta & Tritium

  • Bilbao pintxos (aka tapas) tour

  • Day trip to San Sebastian

For this trip, we will start in beautiful Bilbao and make our way to the heart of the Rioja Valley in the city of Logroño, from where the beauty and flavors of this incredible wine region and finish with time in the medieval city of Pamplona.

Over eight days, we will visit multiple wineries and experience different ways of enjoying wine while eating pintxos and dining at typical Spanish restaurants. We will also visit World Heritage monuments, explore Roman ruins, monasteries and hilled castles.

Spain Rioja tripThis trip features visits to many different Rioja wineries, where, besides wine tastings or wine pairings at lunch, you will also enjoy experiences around it: spending part of your day at the vineyards to know its growing and caring secrets; verifying how colors influence your palate, or putting your culinary abilities to the test, all in all, always with a glass of wine in your hands.

Besides all these incredible places and experiences, we will also visit World Heritage sites, quaint villages, and well-known cities (Pamplona), having time to relax or feel inspired by this amazing wine region.

And enjoy Basque Nightlife’s narrow streets with tapas, pintxos, and wine.

Tucked between the Basque Country and the Castilla-León region, Rioja has incorporated elements from these gastronomic traditions (Basque + Spanish), always enhancing them with its wine heritage & knowledge. Not only will you be able to enjoy the rich and exquisite flavors of Pintxos (Tapas) while walking Calle Laurel & San Juan (in picture) – where wine can be handed out through the glass windows – but also sitting at the table slowly flavoring gourmet appetizers & plates in the Rioja tradition, with curated wine choices or, last but not least, test your culinary abilities holding a wine glass.

In addition to pintxos, the tour will feature multiple traditional Spanish lunches/dinners, mountains of jamón & local cheese plus wine at every stop.
