Vineyard Picnic FAQs
Currently, our vineyard picnics will take place at Castello Barone in the Swan Creek AVA in the Yadkin Valley. We are working on adding new vineyards.
For groups arriving directly at the vineyard, our picnics start at 1 p.m. Your picnic angel, aka NC Wine Gal Guide, will greet you and introduce you to Scott Barone, the owner and winemaker of Castello Barone. He will give each of you a glass of his delicious sparkling wine and take you on a mini tour of his vineyard.
After the tour, you will be escorted to a beautiful picnic table within his beautiful vineyard, where your first course will be waiting.
Your picnic concludes at 4 p.m. After that, your group can stay at the vineyard and enjoy more wine or visit one of the several other vineyards in the area.
Upon arrival, each person will enjoy a glass of sparkling wine, and each course will be served approximately 1 glass per person, sometimes more!
Our menu will be prepared by Off The Block in Charlotte, NC.
They will prepare a local charcuterie tray for the first course and an assortment of mini sandwiches, ranging from chicken salad to caprese, for the second course. Then, they will furnish the table with assorted sweet treats to finish off the meal.
Some dietary restrictions can be accommodated.
Yes, while transportation is not included in the cost, groups can add this if vehicle availability exists for some areas. Just inquire before booking.
Transportation will be an additional $400 per group. This can be added during checkout.
The pickup time for transportation will be between 11:30 & noon (or depending on the pickup location). Some locations will incur an extra cost.
Our vineyard picnics are approximately 3 hours long and groups are welcome to hang out at the vineyard after the picnic is over.
Yes, if you add our private transportation option you can add a tasting at another local vineyard to your picnic experience. Your choices are Dynamis, Raffaldini or Piccione. Those prices range from $30 – $60 per person.
These can be added during check out.
Picnics are rain or shine! In the event of a shower during your picnic, we will move the festivities to a private space in the tasting room, where we will re-create your picnic experience.
If it’s too chilly outside, you’ll enjoy the day next to a roaring fire.
Groups can pre-tip for the day (during the check-out experience) or leave a cash or Venmo tip for our guides during the day.
Typical tips range from $25 – $50 per person.
For our picnics, we allow 4 to 8 people. If you have more or less, don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
We recommend loose-fitting clothing to accommodate the heat and a vineyard hat to keep the sun at bay.
You won’t be doing too much walking, so have fun with your footwear.
Vineyard picnics have a 14-day cancellation policy that is strictly enforced.
A $50 per person non-refundable deposit is required to save your spot.
Balances are due 1 month before.
