The Rioja Wine Tour, An Immersive Wine Experience...

One of the reason we are excited about this trip is the fact that, like many of Europe’s famous wine regions, Ancient Romans were the first to start viticulture in Rioja wine region, which means that once we start traveling, we will discover traces of its rich and ancient history.

Rioja wine region boasts of beautiful countrysides dating back to medieval times, a breathtaking hilly landscape dotted with fortresses. In addition to this, here, you will be able to discover fabulous wine museums, wineries with modern architecture, great restaurants, and hotels.

Logroño - your city of stay

The Itinerary

For this trip, we will based at the heart of the Rioja Valley in the city of Logroño, from where the beauty and flavors of this incredible wine region.

Over eight days, we will visit nine wineries and experience different ways of enjoying wine while eating and dining at selected places. We will also visit World Heritage monuments, explore Roman ruins, and spend a day in the beautiful city of Pamplona (not to be running against the bulls!).

This trip features visits to many different Rioja wineries (9 in total), where, besides wine tastings or wine pairings at lunch, you will also enjoy experiences around it: spending part of your day at the vineyards to know its growing and caring secrets; verifying how colors influence your palate, or putting your culinary abilities to the test, all in all, always with a glass of wine in your hands.

Besides all these incredible places and experiences, we will also visit World Heritage sites, quaint villages, and well-known cities (Pamplona), having time to relax or feel inspired by this amazing wine region.

And enjoy Basque Nightlife’s narrow streets with tapas, pintxos, and wine.

Tucked between the Basque Country and the Castilla-León region, Rioja has incorporated elements from these gastronomic traditions (Basque + Spanish), always enhancing them with its wine heritage & knowledge. Not only will you be able to enjoy the rich and exquisite flavors of Pintxos (Tapas) while walking Calle Laurel & San Juan (in picture) – where wine can be handed out through the glass windows – but also sitting at the table slowly flavoring gourmet appetizeres & plates in the Rioja tradition, with curated wine choices or, last but not least, test your culinary abilities holding a wine glass.

With the exception of the day we arrive and depart (pick up in Madrid and drive to Logroño – 3 ½ hour drive) every other day, we will have a 30 to 40-minute commute to the places we will be visiting. The longest commute will be to Pamplona (last day), which will take around an hour.

Yes. There are free afternoons and evenings to enjoy. Also, morning activities and visits will not start before 10.30 am, which may also give some R&R time.

The Spanish meal schedule is quite different from the one in the U.S. since, in Spain, lunch or dinner is usually not served before 1.30 pm or 8.30 pm. Some exceptions may be found, but this is the schedule for restaurants and other places to eat on a regular basis.

No. You can pay an extra fee ($600) to have an individual room.

Both of the hotel choices are 4-star hotels in Logroño – one of them being a converted fortress-like building – at the heart of the city center and a 5-minute walk from the Cathedral and the Calle de San Juan and Calle De Laurel streets where the Rioja Wine culture and gastronomy is up for grabs. The Spanish hotels (and the 4-star ones) offer high-quality accommodation and hotel amenities. Both hotels have gym & spa options for guests and other activities that can be purchased at the hotel (like wine tastings) but are not included in the tour price.
