Offered as a Private Trip for Groups of 6-8

Next year we are offering private Iceland trips. Pick an itinerary, pick a date and we do the rest. Prices are based on the number of days, dates, and route you pick.

Trolls, Fairies & 20 Hours of Light...

Explore the land of trolls and fairies, where over 50% of the population still believes in them. Our trips are based on our 20+ visits to the country since 2012 and bring that experience to you.

Our suggested itinerary is 8 days in July that explores the Southern coast of Iceland, including stops at the Golden Circle, Vik, multiple waterfalls, glaciers & a biking burial spot.

Travelers to Iceland in July can enjoy 20 hours of light, and smaller groups can enjoy going off the beaten track with visits to an abandoned swimming pool & lots of impromptu hikes.

THE ITINERARIES

There are many ways to see Iceland, and that depends on what makes the most sense for your group.

Southern Route

Reykjavik - Golden Circle - Vik

Suggested length 8 - 9 days

This route concentrates on the most visually & activity dense part of Iceland. Besides all the wonders of the Golden Circle, you will encounter a roadside waterfall with an interior hiking trail, an abandoned pool inside a canyon, a hike to a viking burial spot, a glacier lagoon and lots of thermal pools.

We recommend this route if you would like to stay longer in your hotels and spend less time driving

Northern + Southern Route

Reykjavik - Golden Circle - Akureyri - Diamond Circle

Suggested length 9 days or more

One of our favorite experiences because this allows travelers to see 2 different sides of Iceland, all the hotspots in the Southern Route along with the majestic beauty of the North with whale watching at Husavik, exploring the basalt cliffs of the Diamond Circle and walking up the side of a caldera among others.

This route can be accomplished one of 2 ways, flying into Akureyri from Reykjavik and flying back or flying into Akureyri and driving the ring road back and hitting the eastern & southern parts of Iceland (recommended) on the drive. This allows us to visit Vatnajökull & the city of Hofn.

All of Iceland Route

Reykjavik - Golden Circle - Akureyri - Diamond Circle - Seydisfjordur - Hofn - Vik

Suggested length 10 to 12 days

By far the most inclusive itinerary as we will cover the entire country in as many days as needed (we recommend at least 10). This trip would involve a clock-wise drive from Reykjavik north towards Akureyri and continuing along the ring road through the places mentioned above. Many hotel stays would only be for 1-2 nights.

Depending on the number of days, travelers could spend 3+ hours in the van a day.

While Megan does lots of NC wine tours, she also started going to Iceland in 2012 and to date has been to Iceland 18 times. Her most recent trips were 2 back-back tours in June of 2023. She knows where to eat in Reykjavik, what waterfalls to see (there are hundreds), the best city pools, and the most interesting hiking trails.

FAQs

This depends on the type of trip you want. The itinerary can be updated per the travel style your group wants. Just notify us.

Currently, the volcanic activity around the Blue Lagoon has caused its closure. We are monitoring this and can add this as an excursion option if it reopens during your trip dates.

Yes, we love thermal pools so they are built into the itinerary when convenient.

Yes, our pricing is based on sharing a room. There are options to stay in a private room for an additional cost.

We pick a variety of hotels based on geography and comfort. We like the Foss Hotel chain, but it is not everywhere we want it to be.

Places we have used in the past include:

  • Umi Hotel
  • Basalt Hotel
  • Black Sands Suites

That is no problem. Our pricing is based on groups of 6- 8 people. If your group is smaller, we can adjust our pricing accordingly.

June, July, and August (although not always) are the best weather months to visit Iceland. However, they are also the most crowded and expensive months. But the positives outweigh the negatives, and if this is going to be your first & only trip to Iceland, we recommend going during the summer.

The winter months of November through February are much darker, and weather can present travel issues such as snow storms & high wind travel advisories. Still, you will experience a much different & quieter part of Iceland plus most prices will be 30% cheaper (hotels/rental cars) during these months.
